Warner Music + YouTube feud hits home

25 Jan 2009

Tonight I received a message from YouTube stating:

Your video, Maui, Hawaii Submarine Trip, may have content that is owned or licensed by WMG.

In recent days YouTube (Google) and Warner Music Group have been feuding and apparently both of them landed on the stupid side when making decisions about music licensing for music embedded in videos. Users are hopping mad and WMG is even going after videos of kids singing a song on the home piano.

So now my little Maui Submarine Video, which has amazingly garnered 24,000+ views, is running in silent movie mode. Nice work Warner. I’m sure you are very proud. A move like this will certainly revive your ancient anachronistic business model and put you and your artists in a good light in the eyes of the music purchasing public.
