Warning – Major Security Flaw in Windows Internet Explorer

16 Dec 2008

To my Microsoft Windows using friends. This is a no B.S. warning about a very serious vulnerability in the Internet Explorer browser for Windows. Please read more below, but the bottom line is you need to use another browser.

I am passing this along due to the severity of the issue. If you currently use a Windows OS and use Internet Explorer (IE, the blue ‘e’ icon) to browse the web you are STRONGLY encouraged to cease use of it due to a major security flaw recently discovered which affects ALL versions of IE v5.x → the latest betas of IE 8.

There is currently no known way to use IE safely without almost completely disabling it (and even that only ‘limits’ the potential for damage according to Microsoft). You can completely avoid this security issue by changing your default browser to something other than IE.

The good news is, there are lots of great alternative browsers to choose from. You are fine if you already use another browser, or if you are using the Apple Mac OS.
